Hey guys, I sourced a new engine to replace my misfiring one. the new engine (azd) has all the same spec as my old engine (AUS) EXCEPT the ignition system. Mine is individual iginition leads and distributor. the new is a coild pack system.
Any idea what to do or will I need the ecu from the new engine too?
ANything else?
hahah i know it was due to low compression in cylinder 4 and was told was probbaly easier to source engine which i did for 200 euro so thought that was a better expense than taking the head apart.
I imagine you took the full harness with the engine, at least for the coil packs. If you have the engine harness it should plug right into the ecu and away you go.
Yes thats right I have the harness for the coil pack just not the ecu. Would it be better to get the ecu from the same engine or will it matter if I source the ecu from another car. just guy is trying to get ecu for 100 whereas i can source it locally from another car for 50
You'll want all of the harness related to the ignition.
There's probably a crank position sensor and wiring you need as well for the ecu to know when to fire the coils. Unless the distributor block has the same sensor.
