Hello, everyone! This is the first time I will drive a VW, being accostumed to General Motor cars and their methods of diagnosis. My father had access to all the information he needed for diagnosis and related things, for being an Opel employee, but he does not work there anymore so he has not access to those things as well. Nevertheless, obviusly, those cars do not have anything to do with Volkswagen Group's cars, so I would like to ask for any recommendation about the best software and hardware to diagnose these cars, know the mechanics behind them and that kind of things, you know what I mean. My car is a VW Polo mk5 of 2010, for more details. We have an Autocom device at home, but you know, it has some limitations and there are other things like parts' diagrams and wiring diagrams that are not easy to find.

First, buy the Robert Bently Service Manual - either digital or paperback. Software for professional capable diagnostics & programing: Ross-Tech VCDS. Simple diagnostics can be done with Bluetooth on Android with products such as Torque, CarScanner or OBD Auto Doctor.

Thank you so much for the response. I will take that into account, specially the VCDS things. I was looking info about it that may be useful at some point. I am a bit afraid of bluetooth devices and simillar things, to be honest 😅 (my father told me that he tried one of those devices on his car and it started to make weird things). Anyway, we have an AutoCOM at home that should be powerful enough for many situations (despite the fact that is a bit enclosed for many things and the software tool is not the best in the world).

On the other hand, I was trying to find the VW Polo's Robert Bently Service Manual but I did not find anything. I only find many other models. Do you know an alternative?
