Hello there!

New member and hopefully future GTI owner.

Found a used 2012 white GTI with touchscreen and sun roof. It has 20,00 miles and listed at 20,500. The issue is the top of the rear bumper has a crack the runs about 1 to 1 1/2 feet long from left to right. The dealer says that can be fixed with a plastic weld but how would they match the paint?

The dealer said they can fix for 200 but i fear its going to be a crappy fix job. How much money would it take to fix that properly? Should I move onto another car. The carfax looks clean so maybe someone dropped something on top of the bumper? Thanks guys

Tell them you like the car, but want the bumper fixed and matched properly.

Negotiate a price and have an agreement with them that they will fix the car to your satisfaction before you take possession. They will present you with a sales contract. If the terms of the bumper repair are not stated on the contract, simply write it in yourself.

Sign the contract ( if you agree with all the terms, including what you wrote) .

Take your copy and tell them to call you when the car is ready.

If the car is not repaired to your satisfaction, your not obligated to buy it, because they haven't satisfied the terms of the contract.
