So, I know how to change out spark plugs and a good bit of other simple stuff, but I have a 97 Jetta GT and the (i think) metal part of the air intake that goes to the block (the part that has 2.0 on it) is keeping me from getting to the final plug. I don't want to start trying to take things apart, but I got to get to this tonight and there is a thunderstorm rolling in.. PLEASE HELP!!!!! What do I need to do to get to this final plug....?????

Did you remove your upper intake manifold?

Man that seems like a hell of a lot of work just to change spark plugs...
I did. It actually wasn't hard at all. 5 bolts in the front. 2 in the back, the electrical plug that goes into it and 2 slip on hoses and it lifted up enough for me to get the socket in there to remove it... it was actually a LOT easier then expected. I was soooo hesitant at first b/c i an by NO MEANS OF THE IMAGINATION a mechanic... but i'm good at figuring things out :D

You dont need to remove the intake manifold at all. All you need is U-joint and a 6'' extender. Jobs done in 5 minutes.
