Hey guys !

I hope everybody is well . My name is Kevin and I’m new to the forum . I live in Hamilton Ontario.

I drive a 2011 VW Jetta 5spd. I bought the car back in 2015 and it had 79,000kms on it and now it has 261,000kms . It’s probably one of my best cars I ever bad !

Now that it’s getting up in KMs I wanted to get somebody’s opinion on what I could do for maintenance to keep this thing going until 400,000 + kms .

thanks guys !

Hi, welcome! Yeah VW’s are great, especially if your car has a standard transmission. I’m down in NJ, America, so converting kilometers to miles, 50,000 [79,000 km] when you bought it is just barely broken in. Now at 162,000 [261,000 km], it’s showing it’s age I’m sure. Do you have the 2.5 liter engine? What ‘big ticket’ maintenance have you had done since around 160,000 km?

By big ticket I mean things like the clutch, water pump, rear main seal, timing chain, etc. Every car ages differently according to how it’s driven, albeit some components just go at randumb.
