Hi everyone,

I'm new here and and looking for some information about oxygen sensors for a 2000 Jetta GLX with the VR6 motor.

It's my fiance's sister's car and the check engine light is on. She took it to the dealership and had them read the codes. I guess it came up the O2 sensor.

She'd like to have it replaced. My question is, are these notorious for going bad so quickly (under 100k miles)? and where can I find a set for cheap? Are there two? one before and one after the cat?

Thanks for any suggestions or answers!

yes you are correct. there are 2 sensors-one in front of the cat and one in back of the cat. And yes they are a problem. I don't know why they such a problem. I had one of mine replaced (at a vw dealership)-I think it was $37.65 for the front one. maybe you can check at a local junk yard-possibly get one off a salvaged jetta. hope this helps. let us know what happens.

Thery did a recall on these.... you should be able to get it replaced free at the dealer. Mine went bad at 3300 miles, but so far the second one has lasted...
