Hi

I wonder if someone could help. I have a VW Polo 1.4tdi 2008.
About two weeks ago I accidentally left the oil cap off whilst topping up the oil.
I initially did two long drives (of around 3hours) and I been driving short journeys ever since with no problems.

I checked the oil on Friday and that's when I realised, so I put the oil cap on. I then drove it for a about 5miles and I could feel that the engine was not running right. Every since then I've been having problem starting, which has been steadily been getting worse. Now it won't start at all. If I try for too long the oil pressure light comes on.
I have checked the oil and I topped it up as it was a bit low. I assume I lost oil over the engine.
I'm not sure what to do now.
Hope someone can help.

After a week of playing around with it, I finally managed to get it started and it starts fine now. I'm suspicious it was a fuel / fuel line problem.
I was hoping for confirmation that leaving the oil cap off does no damage.
Thanks
Steve
