Hi Guys,

I have a VW Transporter T5 LWB with the 2.0tdi (140bhp) engine. The van was driving great until one day when it now won't accelerate past approximately 3000rpm. When I accelerate, it pulls fine until this range but when I get to 3000rpm, the van feels like it is engine braking and sounds like a misfire (diesel knock). The van revs smoothly to the redline when stationary and the problem seems to get worse when the van is hot (oil temp 95 degrees +). The van does not have any fault codes and everything appears to be checking out OK on the Vagcom. There are also no unusual bad smells, smoke or noises from engine.

The following work has been done recently to try and rectify fault:
-New turbo
-New injectors
-New N75 Valve
-New MAF
-New boost sensor
-New fuel filter
-Service
-Compression checked OK.

I am at my wits-end with this fault as it has been to 3 garages and they are unable to see anything wrong! Based in Glasgow if anyone knows any VW specialists.

If anyone has had a similar experience or has any suggestions, I would love to hear from you!

Cheers,

Craig

I have experience a similar issue and have done the same rectifying work. It was taken it to two VW specialists, one that overhauled the transmission and later when it developed problems, I was referred to what was a Eurovan specialist. The specialist wouldn't work on the transmission relating that because it was electronically controlled, it would spit out all kinds of expensive to repair codes that were not really the issue. As a result, he no longer accepts Eurovan automatic transmission repair, as they were always returning and not worth the time and effort. The suggestion was to convert it to a manual transmission for longevity.
