Well i am seriously considering a tdi and the dealer says people (customers) are telling him that they are getting better mileage than the sticker states.
I'd would like to ask all of you who have one what mileage you are realizing.
I understand these cars are really good on the freeway and ok in the city?
Unlike the hybrid prius and honda cars are better in the city and not on the freeway?

Would you also state your model and transmission type.

Thanks everyone
Jack

I drive between the North Okanagan and Vancouver BC to travel to work, and that is a 950 km (590 mile) round trip. This has high mountain passes 0 meters (0 feet) at Vancouver to 1230 meters (4035 feet) at the Coquihalla Summit, then down to Merritt at 605 meters (1985 feet). Merritt to the Pennask Summit is 1728 meters (5669 feet) then down to Kelowna at 344 meters (1129 feet) and ending at 482 meters (1581 feet) in Vernon.

When in the Fraser Valley (very flat), traveling at 105 km/h (65 mph) I get 4.7 l/100km (50.05 mpg) and once I leave the valley and start the climb to the passes, traveling at 110 km/h (72 mph), it drops to 5.9 l/100km (39.87 mpg). The overall economy is 5.1 l/100km (46.12 mpg), with the top speed in the Okanagan Valley at 100 km/h but for the most part it is 90 km/h. I also drive almost 90% of that trip on cruise control.

In town I am getting about 8 l/100km (29.4 mpg).

My car is a '13 Jetta TDI with a DSG transmission.

I hope this helps.
