Hi everyone,

I need your suggestion about engine oil for my 2005 VW Bora, 1.6 BFQ Engine. (automatic transmission) 135K
I will change engine oil soon. I am not able to decide which oil is better for my car.
I'm thinking to choose Castrol or Mobil1.
Mobil suggests MOBİL 1 ESP FORMULA 5W30 on their website for my car.
Castrol suggests Castrol EDGE 5W30 or Castrol EDGE 5W40

...or something else?

Which one is better? What do you suggest?

Brand means nothing. As long as it's the proper oil viscosity and approved for use in Vw motors.

Actually, I don't decide the viscosity. 5w30 or 5w40 ? In my country, official VW service uses 10w40 :S but I don't belive it is correct. Almost all oil brands suggest 5w30 and somes do 5w40 as a second choice.

On the other hand, I don't belive that "Brand means nothing"
I think, chemicals in the oil are important for engine cleaning, fuel consumption, fluidity etc...

Anyway, probably I will use Mobil1 ESP 5w30.

When using full synthetic brand nearly makes no difference. Molecules barely differ between brands, there's no chemicals just one exact consistent molecule through the whole solution.
