Im sorry for this questions because it may require knowledge that is not "off your head." I would like to know the difference in curb weights for some VW models. I would like to see differences from mk2-mk3-mk4 for the Jetta, Passat,Golf, and GTI...TIA and God be with whoever chooses to answer this thread.

Well the MK4 weights are on the vw website for sure so that's a start :)

My semi-gutted base model MK1 is 1800lbs with gas and driver. A MK1 GTI is in the 2200lb range, MK2 Golf is around 2550ish, MK2 Jetta is 2650ish, MK3s add a few hundred lbs to those numbers. Add another 100 or so pounds for the VR6. 50lbs for A/C. Someone else want to step in with some real numbers?

The make badge along my door states my curb weight at 3400lbs. I had to look twice to believe what I had seen.
Are you serious? My car doesn't even weigh that much!!!
I was drunk the night I took a look while comparing it to my cousin's MK3, but I swear I read that thing for like 5 minutes. Nonetheless, it's worth a sober eye .

All of my factory sales literature and magazine tests list the Mk1 GTI weight as being around 2000 lbs, I'm assuming that's unladen.
That's a buddies '84 GTI parked on a scale... his rear seat is removed, but the car does have a Callaway Stg2 kit on it and 15" wheels, so I suppose his is a little heavy. Technically unladen since his tubby ass wasn't in it.

That number on the door is the maximum recommended amount the vehicle can carry including it's own weight. I think mine says around 3600 lbs., it weighs 3150 with half a tank of gas and me in it which means it can carry an additonal 450lbs which doesn't seem like much.
well jeez pickup trucks are for carrying stuff, not dubs....they are made for driving

when i bought my car (which by the way is right at 3100 lbs the max wieght inside is 900lbs) both my parents and the salesman came for test drive... only God knows why... anyhow the salesguy was like 280 AT LEAST, my dad's 230, i was 220 and i'll just say my mom was 150 (she'll appreciate that) i don't think it's possible to fit 4 people in these cars that would over weigh it. it is a pretty good way to lower the car for cheap though!
